I think everyone who knows me can agree that I have OCD, in both the sense of this title, and the realer sense (mostly only when it comes to crocheting...and maybe my closet). Within a few hours of my last posting, I finished the 6th stripe on the flag, which happens to be white. I did this while in semi-darkness watching a movie. About halfway through the stripe, the skein I was using ran out, and I started on another ball of white. I thought nothing of this, finished the stripe, finished my movie, and went to bed.
When I woke up in the morning, I excitedly remembered the progress I made on the blanket, and picked it up to inspect it. To my absolute horror, the new ball of white was MUCH whiter than the white I had used on the prior 2 white stripes, as well as the first half of this third white stripe. Not only was it much whiter, but it was more uniform with the red in its weight. Unfortunately one of the major issues that comes with my crocheting OCD is that I want everything I make to be as perfect as possible...to the point where I have no problem ripping out almost an entire project to fix something.
As soon as I realized my mistake, I decided to rip out all the stripes, except for the first, and begin again with the new, whiter white. I went to the store and bought numerous skeins of white and cherry red. Apparently Red Heart yarn makes 4 shades of white. WHY?! As it turns out, "white" is the best shade...go figure. So, this is now where I am at:
*sigh* and it begins again.
I WILL finish this before September.
